Flaxman Island is an uninhabited island located in the Beaufort Sea, off the coast of Alaska, USA. It is part of the North Slope Borough and is situated within the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Despite being an island, it is not considered to be a city. The nearest inhabited community is Kaktovik, which is about 6 miles away on the mainland. Kaktovik is a small village with a population of around 250 people and serves as the main gateway to the island for research and wildlife viewing purposes.
