Ekibastuz is a city in the Pavlodar Region of northeastern Kazakhstan. It is located on the Ertis (Irtysh) River, near the border with Russia. The city is known for its large coal deposits, and it is one of the main coal-producing regions in Kazakhstan. Ekibastuz is home to several coal mines, a thermal power plant, and a number of other industrial facilities. The city has a population of around 140,000 people.
