Bathurst Island is an island located in the Northern Territory of Australia. It is part of the Tiwi Islands, which are situated in the Timor Sea, approximately 80 kilometers northwest of Darwin. Although Bathurst Island is the largest island in the Tiwi Islands group, it does not have a city. The main community on Bathurst Island is Wurrumiyanga, also known as Nguiu, which is the largest indigenous settlement in the Northern Territory. Wurrumiyanga serves as the administrative center and cultural hub for the Tiwi people.
