Arapahoe City is a former town located in Arapahoe County, Colorado, in the United States. It was established in 1858 as a mining town during the Colorado Gold Rush and served as a supply and trading center for the miners. At its peak, it had a population of around 1,000 people.
However, as the gold rush declined, so did the population of Arapahoe City. By the 1870s, the town was largely abandoned as people moved on to other areas in search of gold. Today, there are only a few remnants left of the once-thriving town, including some historic buildings and a cemetery.
The area where Arapahoe City was located is now part of present-day Englewood, a suburb of Denver. The history of Arapahoe City is preserved through various historical markers and exhibits in the region, providing a glimpse into the early days of Colorado's mining history.
