- Al Ula is a city in the Medina Region of Saudi Arabia. It is situated approximately 400 kilometers northwest of Medina and 300 kilometers south of Tabuk. The city is known for its rich history and archaeological sites, including the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Al-Hijr (also known as Madain Salih) which features ancient tombs carved into sandstone cliffs. Al Ula is also famous for its natural landscapes, such as the towering rock formations of the Madain Saleh canyon and the stunning desert landscapes of the Red Sands. The city has been attracting an increasing number of tourists in recent years, thanks to the Saudi Arabian government's efforts to develop the area as a major tourist destination.
