Cheap flights to Soesterberg
- Soesterberg Airport is a former military airbase in the Netherlands, located near the town of Soesterberg in the province of Utrecht. It was initially established in 1911 as a military airfield and was used by the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF) until its closure in 2008.
- The airport played a significant role during World War II, serving as a base for both Dutch and German forces at different times. After the war, it continued to be used as a military airbase, housing various squadrons and aircraft types.
- In 2008, the RNLAF relocated its operations and the airport was officially closed. The airfield and surrounding land were then repurposed for civilian use, with plans for redevelopment into residential and recreational areas.
- Currently, Soesterberg Airport is no longer operational and does not offer commercial flights. However, the site has been transformed into the National Military Museum, showcasing the history of the Dutch military and aviation. It also serves as a recreational area with walking and cycling paths, offering visitors a chance to explore the former airbase and its surroundings.
