McClellan Air Force Base (AFB) is a former United States Air Force base located in Sacramento County, California. It was established in 1935 and served as a major base during World War II and the Cold War. McClellan AFB was primarily used for aircraft maintenance and repair, with several Air Force units stationed there.
However, McClellan AFB was closed as an active military installation in 2001 after being designated for closure under the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) program. The base has since been transformed into McClellan Park, a business and industrial park. The airport located at McClellan Park is now called Sacramento McClellan Airport (MCC) and is primarily used for general aviation, private aircraft, and cargo operations. It is not a commercial passenger airport.
