- Hamilton Field airport is a former military airfield located in Marin County, California, near the city of Novato. It was originally established in 1932 as a military airfield and was named after World War I flying ace, Lloyd Hamilton. - After the war, Hamilton Field was decommissioned and transferred to the Air Force Reserve, which continued to use it until its closure in 1976. Today, the former airfield is known as the Hamilton Army Airfield and is part of the Hamilton Field Historic District, recognized by the National Register of Historic Places.
